Using the Rocky Mountains as a metaphor, Ken Gire illustrates how God can transform the most terrifying circumstances of our lives into majestic landscapes in The Weathering Grace of God: The Beauty God Brings from Life's Upheavals. Gire, a prolific author and two-time Gold Medallion award winner, has carved out a niche for himself with thoughtful Christian readers through his willingness to write transparently about himself and his questions. He deftly avoids the trap of offering pat answers, and allows for mystery as part of the life of faith. In one of Gire's most eloquent passages about suffering, he writes: We feel our way in the dark. Until we find each other. We huddle together in the storm. Wet and shivering, but together. And maybe in the end it will be our huddling in the storm that gives us more comfort than our understanding of the storm. Hurting readers will find balm for their deepest wounds within these pages. --Cindy Crosby
